Sauerkraut Days Festival

Official community event information here.

August, 2023

Every summer in late August, a two-block stretch of Lisbon Iowa’s iconic Main Street is transformed into a time warp. Combining a strong sense of early American history with contemporary family fun, you can visit the longstanding Lisbon History & Culture Center, experience the local community parade on Saturday morning, taste a classic Gary’s “brat”* for $5 cash, and stay for the party rides and street dancing late into the summer nights.

This year, the Crawford Haak+ family tradition continued. Members from Omaha, to the The Twin Cities and as far eat as Boston and New York came together to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy the summer sweet corn.

Take a peek at some of our best “shots” below and consider marking your calendar for next year.

Happy Sauerkraut Days!

*bratwurst: a German pork sausage (add sauerkraut and you’re in the club)
