Travel Notebook: Iowa

August, 2023

A short day’s drive west of Chicago, eastern Iowa is home to twin classic American small towns, Mount Vernon - the city of Cornell College (not University) - and Lisbon, which boasts an annual Sauerkraut Days Festival in the third week of August annually.

 

This year, my partner and I took some time to visit a few local spots and explore our cultural history. We had a great time, solved a few family mysteries, and even remembered to take some pictures.
